Last Update: 26 September 2026
Welcome to the Edmspack news thread.
This single topic serves as a centralized hub for all updates on the chart packs and files I release, so that information stays organized rather than scattered across multiple posts.
A video covering this update is available below.

Edmspack is a personal project I have been working on since 2011–2012, created purely for enjoyment.
I started charting at around 16 after seeing an acquaintance play Dance Dance Revolution;
My first experiments were EDMS A1 and A1 EXTRA.
From EDMS A3 onward, my current style began to take shape —
I specialized in 4K Spreadfiles, and it continues to evolve.
I follow a set of internal guidelines to maintain consistency across charts.
See the Charting section on the website for details.
Why updates take time? I hold a full-time job (~45 h/week),
and a single difficulty takes roughly 8–16 hours to complete.
Each song includes seven difficulties.
These factors explain longer release intervals.
No monetization, no ads.
The website and my YouTube channel are ad-free and will remain so.
I do not monetize my videos.
Neutrality. The website is a showcase for the project only.
I remain neutral regarding the broader StepMania community
and will not use the site to express opinions on it.
About the Challenge Difficulty
When playing the Challenge difficulty in any file from this topic, please keep the following in mind:
- It contains a high number of holds, jumps (doubles/triples), and hands.
- Gray arrows (in the default skin) are fakes and appear only at the beginning of the song.
- In recent files, the charting around mines generally follows the vocals,
though it occasionally follows less obvious sections. - Each pack includes 5–7 difficulties,
so both beginners and intermediate players can find a comfortable level.
All content is Keyboard (4K), falling under the Technical / Jump-Stream / Stamina umbrella.
I chart by layers (lead → percussion → mines → fakes), with each lead carrying a Pitch Relevancy (PR) concept.
Each song includes 6–7 difficulties spanning roughly 5 to 25 MSD,
with a self-assessed rating scale (see website for the full table).
For the full breakdown of my layering method, difficulty tier specifications,
era-by-era differences, and the MSD mapping table, see the Charting tab on the website: LINK
There are four ways to download my packs:
| # | Method
| 1 | EdmsUpdater Application — New!
| 2 | Quick install (.RAR / .ZIP) |
| 3 | Batch packs (direct download)
| 4 | Batch packs via SMO / Etterna
Bundles (compilations of a lot of packs) are also available publicly. LINK
Some content around my packs is private-only.
What differentiates each method
1 – EdmsUpdater (application)
Offers full quality customization:
- Image format: PNG or JPG
- Video format: MPEG, AVI, MP4 (H264 and H265)
- Background resolution: 480p → 2160p
- Audio: 128 / 192 / 320 / 500 kbps, or FLAC
- Banners & CDTITLES: 512×160 or 1024×320
- Video: 480p / 720p / 1080p / 1080p BD — no public version includes video
- Custom
.sm/.sscgeneration based on your settings
The application also remembers your preferences, checks pack versions,
and updates them automatically without visiting the website.
2 – Quick install
Pre-configured .RAR or .ZIP: JPG images, 1080p backgrounds,
1024× banners, 500 kbps audio, .sm & .ssc included.
3 & 4 – Batch packs
(e.g. EDMS AR, ARNR, BI, BII, BIII)
JPG images, 1080p backgrounds, 1024× banners, 320 kbps audio, .sm & .ssc included.
How to download (methods 3 & 4)
Click [Download] next to the file host you prefer.
I pay for the CDN on both hosts, so you should get full network speed with no ads.
Pixedrain is generally faster (~10 Gbps / 1.25 GB/s) than 1fichier (~1 Gbps / 125 MB/s).
Depending on your country, one or both hosts may be blocked.
In that case, use the EdmsUpdater application or the SMO / Etterna links.
Verifying downloaded files
If a red * appears next to a download link, it leads to the file’s checksum page.
Use 7-Zip to generate CRC-32 and SHA-256 hashes and compare them to the values shown.
If they differ, delete the file and contact me via Discord or email.
Extracting packs
Via EdmsUpdater: Automatic.
Manually:
| Format | Steps |
|---|---|
| .ZIP | Right-click → Extract (Windows built-in; use 7-Zip if that fails) → select the Songs folder in your game engine’s directory → Extract → delete the .ZIP when done. |
| .RAR | Right-click → Extract via 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR → select the Songs folder in your game engine’s directory → Extract → delete the .RAR when done. |
Each song also has its own page with all relevant information.
Packs Overview
This section lists all the packs I have created from my earliest work to the present.
Packs are sorted by artist or music type.
EDMS AR & ARNR are the oldest; EDMS AO & TS are the most recent.
Most packs are around Spreadfile chart played in 4K (4 Arrows).
The charts feature heavy use of doubles, triples, holds, mines and can contain rolls.
If you want to understand the charting style before playing, see this topic.
Audio quality.
I purchase the highest available audio source for each track.
Most music originates from a .WAV file.
No audio upscaling is performed.
To support the original artists, click the music title on the song page —
it links to the store where I purchased it.
For full download details, see Download Information.

Need help?
If you’re new to the game or to my project,
my website has a dedicated Help page covering the basics of gameplay,
how my files are structured, and how the download process works.
Thank you to everyone who has been following this project since the early days and to those discovering it now.
I hope you enjoy the charts. See you on Discord!
