Organizing a pack inspired by 2005-2006 packs (CKMP1-3, KC1-3, F4/F5, PPP etc.)
If you’re familiar with those packs that should be enough to get an idea of what I want. If not, some more specific criteria is listed below. There’s more to making a good 2005-2006 style chart besides these criteria though, so being familiar with the charting style of the aforementioned packs is still highly recommended.
Detailed criteria
- Song choice should fit. Not going to be too specific, just look at the sort of stuff that’s charted in the packs listed above (or the pooled submissions). Music made later than 2006 is fine as long as it sounds like it fits.
- Every submission should have a heavy (HD) difficulty in the 10-18 MSD range without hands/quads/mines/rollds/lifts/fakes in the .sm format. This heavy difficulty is the intended experience.
- You can break the hand/quad/mine rules in an extra oni (IN) difficulty, but try to still keep it thematically appropriate.
- Easier difficulties appreciated but not needed.
- You don’t need to make your charts index-friendly, but it’s a good idea to help make the patterns feel appropriate.
- Dumping is permitted, but only in the same sense that old DDR charts are dumped.
- GFX is optional; but if you do include it make it 256x80 for the banner and 640x480 for the background. Old cliches such as scan lines, abstract brushes/renders, and glowing text are encouraged.
Organization
Send submissions through EO forum messages only. This is to simplify the process for me of tracking submissions and sending feedback.
Deadline for submissions will be December 1st. After that period a few months will be spent on QA and GFX, the exact time dependent on how many submissions.
Submission list can be found on my site. Difficulties listed are based on the 1-15 rating scale old keyboard charts usually used.
I plan on pooling fairly leniently but will polish and trim down the pack further during the QA phase.
Feedback will be strongly opinionated because this pack has a very specific vision. The purpose of the feedback will be to make the chart fit the pack better, which may conflict with your artistic vision. Feedback will likely be given as a mix of general notes and changes sent back on an Edit difficulty for your review. Simple rejections with minimal feedback may be given if the submission is too different from the pack’s vision.
