So, I’ve gotten a new pc, and wanted to play Etterna again. As I went to install it, I got an error about a file that was missing, but managed to fix it by just downloading it and putting it in the folder. I then received another error (an 0xc error with many 0’s and 7b at the end). Turns out many .dll files are missing in the Programs folder, and the installer, isn’t including those, how can I fix this? I tried many things, none worked
First of all, don’t download random dll files from the internet, as they are likely to contain malicious stuff.
If you see this error: The code execution cannot proceed because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
You need to install DirectX9. New installations of Windows don’t come with it pre-installed.

Once you’re done installing it you should be good to start Etterna.
Funny thing is, I reinstalled Etterna more than a few dozen times when I had the “The code execution cannot proceed because d3dx9_43.dll was not found” issue and it never worked. I DID manage to find the file on a trusted website and that gave me the 0xc000007b error. So right now, the d3dx9 file isn’t the issue, but the 0xc000007b error is, because of how little .dll files I have and should have

Your error relates to missing dependencies or partially broken dependencies that are required to start Etterna. I don’t know exactly which ones you already have on your computer, but once you get it sorted, then you should be good to go.
I downloaded the Runtime Installer you provided and it didn’t work, and the weird thing is? I don’t know what dependencies I’m missing, considering I installed Etterna a few hours ago for the first time
even when you install the correct dependencies you can get this error if the version you installed is for the wrong architecture. make sure that you are installing the 64bit version if you are using 64bit windows. if it still fails, reinstall the dependencies for the other version instead. you are missing vc++ 2013 or something of that nature.
the error messages telling you to reinstall the program are not controlled by us, and we dont distribute the dependencies with the installer. reinstalling the game will not fix any of those problems.
Okay… I downloaded the 32 bit version and that ran normally, even though my operating system is 64 bit. Oh well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.. Thanks anyway lads!
You may probably need to remove the random dlls that you’ve downloaded and inserted into your game’s folder as they may conflict with the installed ones.
I uninstalled the previous version and made sure every other .dll file was uninstalled with it as well, if not, I deleted them manually, there’s no lag, no issues loading songs or booting up Etterna. Its all good!
