Like, in osu! it’s a pretty big deal. There are even skillsets dedicated to it. Although I haven’t seen a single LN map in Etterna, I’d like to know if they count like normal hit notes.

they are worth nothing in difficulty calc and if you miss or drop one you lose health and a bunch of points. if you successfully finish a hold you get no extra reward other than health

it’s also worth noting that if you let go of a hold in the middle of it, you have a quarter second window to “regrab” the hold by holding it down again. there’s also no release timing
in etterna, you dont even have to hold the ln notes (unless you enable it in settings)
you might be confusing holding with releasing. you do have to hold them, but the releases aren’t timed
