How to play multiplayer?

Connect to the address multi.etternaonline.com in the Multiplayer screen, or go to Options > Network Options and enter the address there.

Etterna client already connects to that multiplayer server by default. If the connection is successful, you will be redirected to the Select Profile menu and/or prompted to enter your EtternaOnline site credentials.

For now, you are not required to use an EO account to play on multiplayer, but this may change in the future. Currently, you can choose any username and password of your choice, and remember these details the next time you log in to multiplayer.

If the connection was not successful and you are required to connect, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the Multiplayer screen.
  2. Press Connect and verify that multi.etternaonline.com is inserted in the address field.
  3. After a successful connection, you will be redirected to select a local profile (if required).
  4. Enter your multiplayer credentials.

If the connection was still not successful, it might be because the server is down. You may try in the meantime to connect to third-party multiplayer servers such as multi.notetternaonline.com (courtesy of Poco). You will need to change the multiplayer address in your game settings to connect to them.

How to change multiplayer address

  1. On the main screen, go to Options.
  2. Select Network Options.
  3. Click Disconnect (if the button already shows Connect, skip to step 5).

You will be taken back to the options menu or the main menu, where you can start connecting to a different address.

  1. On the main menu, Select Multiplayer.
  2. Click on Connect.
  3. Change the multiplayer address to multi.notetternaonline.com (or any other available address).
  4. If the connection is successful, you will be redirected to the Select Profile menu and/or prompted to enter your multiplayer credentials.

/pm <username> <message> - Send a private message to a user in a new private tab

/help - Displays the help menu from Server

Room

/ready - Toggle your ready status. Everyone must be ready to start a song

/force - Toggle force start for the room, Ready status is ignored

/roll [any number] - Roll a number between 1 and x. If xx is not given, uses 100 instead

Room Owner (Admin)

/op <username> - Give or remove operator (moderator) status to a member in your room

Room OP (Mod)

/free - Toggle free song selection. When on, anyone can pick a song

/freerate - Toggle free rate selection. When on, anyone can pick any music rate

/kick <username> - Kick and ban a user from your room

/unban <username> - Unban a kicked/banned user from your room
