You heard that right! Jibberjacks makes its GRAND RETURN! Jibberjacks is a spiritual successor to Skwid’s Skwid Game and a side-pack of Goober 'n Friends. Jibberjacks is hosted by yours truly, Skwid, and myeelf! I’m here to help out with managing stuff while Skwid judges and focuses on finalization and other cool stuff. Below are the guidelines as written by Skwid:
JibberJacks Guidelines:
- Jackspeed-oriented pack. Skwid Game 2. Think longjacks, twitchjacks, vibro shit, fast two-hand trills, gluts, etc. with a focus on sparser layering.
- No hard limit on the number of each type of jack file, but I might be less willing to accept the 15th 35MSD vibrowall file if there’s an abundance of them for some reason.
- This is explicitly NOT a chordjack pack. Chords/jumps are not outright banned or even discouraged, but the primary difficulty of the file should not come from sheer density. Sensationer (Golgo13)-style files are great, but please shy away from submitting something that the average Osu player would enjoy.
- Jack dumps are completely acceptable. Your song choice doesn’t necessarily have to “justify” jacks.
- No musical theme as of yet, but I strongly discourage “joke” songs, ear-piercing nonsense, and random audio clips, much like Goober 'n Friends. Pick some bangers that you just wanna bro out and vibro or trill to or something.
- Songs should be at least 1 minute long. No hard upper limit, but be reasonable. If something is 20 minutes long, it better justify its length and not just be some garbage loop.
- No MSD range in mind.
- No files that are already ranked.
- Because the level of interest this pack is uncertain, I’m not planning on any sort of file limits, either for the total pack or per charter. This is subject to change as submissions start coming in.
Skwid’s Notes:
- I will be judging each submission and it’s possible to have something denied based on charting alone, but I’m not going to be very strict.
- I might give suggestions and whatnot, but they’re up to the charter to implement if they want and if something is accepted, the assumption is that it’s cool as-is.
- Sync your shit.
- Playtest your file and confirm that you personally find it fun before sending plz.

Important Announcement:
I have restarted almost everything in regards to Jibberjacks. If you submitted a file to Jibberjacks, and it has not been outright 100% accepted, you must resubmit the file. Please check the spreadsheet. If you submitted a file and you notice it’s not there, please resend it!

- face my fears - hilarious file that feels deliberately meant to mindblock the fuck out of you. accepted
- judge up down - same. accepted
- loser - accepted. fantastic example of what this is about. only note is that i’m not the biggest fan of the minijacks with jumps on every 8th as a sort of filler pattern but it’s not enough to “require” work
- try again - rejected. doesn’t fit pack at all
- under control - rejected. the file is funny, but the % of it that is jibberjacks-related is far too low, even if i like a lot of what happens during those sections
- yuusha - accepted. jibberjacks loves trills. sync could probably be adjusted to be a bit better but honestly it’s kind of funny as-is especially with the 24th jacks making absolutely no sense for the rhythms of the “ga ga ga” shit
Extra notes from Skwid: "btw upon reviewing the files in this batch, i realized 2 things i want to note:
- obnoxious trills very are encouraged/accepted if i didn’t make it clear already (idk)
- a lot of what’s fun about stuff like this and looking back at hsmp garbage is that i want to encourage breaking “rules” or doing things you’d otherwise hold yourself back from doing. it doesn’t mean that i want literally impossible shit or for there to be 1 minute of nothing, 5 second gargantuan spike, 1 minute of nothing, BUT i think not ironing things out to be an exact perfect difficulty curve or smoothing out all awkward things can result in fun"

b00m b00m - accepted. looking back on other stuff, i don’t know why i was so hesitant on this. it totally fits.

dimensionalize - accepted. WOW this is cool. part of me hesistates just because it takes a while to truly get going, but i think the holds and extremely awkward repetition in the beginning help to keep it from feeling like a snoozefest. the song totally earns its buildup, too.

harmony - accepted. i don’t love that it takes a full minute to ramp up, but i think i would still accept this as-is. i would love for you to either beef up the first minute a tad or cut it slightly though.

opium - rejected. legitimately cool file, but takes too long to get going and when it does, not enough of the file is dedicated to funny jacks for it to fit in well.

russian lullaby - rejected. just not looking for this kind of chordjack stuff

the answer - accepted. song sucks but the file is great and even uses some funny colors. i like it.

toolkore - rejected. it’s just a LITTLE too bland and rigid for my tastes. it’s not bad, by any means. it’s just a little too barebones. i think it might actually be worth it to chart the rest of the song though. it sounds like there’s a lot more room for wackiness as it progresses, especially if you beef up what you currently have a bit. this one feels bad to reject because it meets the criteria but i’m just not feeling it as it currently stands.
